The Irish Caravan and Camping Council (ICC)

The Irish Caravan and Camping Council began life in 1960, and became a limited company in 1969.Its constitution and framework is modelled on that of the UK-based National Caravan Council.

The present day organisation is composed of approximately 100 caravan and camping park operators, whose sites are Failte Ireland registered and have fulfilled the stringent criteria laid down by the Bord.
In addition to park members, an influential core group of caravan manufacturers, dealers, and equipment suppliers make up the additional membership.

Key members of the camping sector of the Irish tourism industry are united in this trade representative body. The ICC operates entirely through voluntary self-regulation and constantly strives to monitor, uphold and upgrade industry standards, facilities and services in an increasingly competitive marketplace.

The caravan and camping sector in Ireland is one of Europe’s greatest natural resources. The sector has gone from strength to strength in the past decade just as tourism in Ireland has become big business.

The remit of the Irish Caravan and Camping Council is to:

  • To ensure members interests are taken into account in policy formation through Industry representation
  • Develop a coherent and strategic marketing programme for caravan and camping in Ireland.
  • To encourage product quality and development
  • To provide advice and information to members on a wide range of issues
  • To Provide a range of services and benefits which will maximise membership
  • To seek constantly to fulfill these objectives at least cost to members
  • Through membership of the European Federation of Camping Site Organisations and Holiday Park Associations (EFCO&HPA), represent the views of the Irish caravan industry on a European stage
