Take a break and celebrate Easter in the great outdoors

Spring is in the air and the temperatures are slowly rising. With a long weekend fast approaching you need to start planning your Easter break. Schools are closed and everyone is in holiday mode so it?s time to dust off your caravan or motorhome and enjoy a few days away.

Easter is a great time to catch up with family and friends and enjoy the many activities and events taking place throughout the country. The kids are itching to get out and take advantage of the stretch in the evenings. There are many cool things taking place over the Easter break to fill your time with activities and excitement.

The great outdoors is beckoning and with a number of cycling and walking routes throughout the country you will find safe and scenic areas to bring your little ones. In Waterford, why not experience the recently opened Waterford Greenway which is a 46km off-road walking & cycling trail between Dungarvan and Waterford. You could tie it in with a trip to the West Waterford Food Festival. In Mayo, the Westport Walking Festival takes place with a weekend of hill walking in the glorious mountains of Mayo and Connemara, with superb views of the Wild Atlantic Way or take in the Great Western Greenway between Westport and Achill Island.

Pilgrim?s Path Week takes place at 12 locations around the country including Cork, Kerry, Waterford, Wicklow, Clare, Mayo, Tipperary and Donegal and is a great opportunity to learn of Ireland?s Christian Heritage

If music is your thing, well then why not head over to the Pan Celtic Festival in Carlow which takes place from 18^th to 22^nd April. The festival is a celebration of the cultural links between the nations of Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Brittany, Cornwall and the Isle of Man. Welcoming musicians and choirs, singers and dancers from the participating Celtic nations to share their language and culture, this is a family-friendly Easter event you shouldn’t miss. Take a trip from Kilkenny or Wexford to Carlow to listen to some great music.

There are a lot of activities and events taking place which all ages will love but particularly children. In Kerry, the Tir na nÓg Festival takes place in Tralee. Activities include the Enchanted Hall, this is an Alice in Wonderland themed experience in the Kerry County Museum, Breakfast with the Easter Bunny, Easter Egg hunts in various locations, an Easter Tea party, a fancy dress fun run in the town park & a puppet show.

In Dublin, The Big Dig at Dublinia also takes place. Put your hard hat on and get your hands dirty to experience life as an Archaeologist where children will get a chance to discover how archaeologists excavate and hopefully find some artefacts and treasures of their own.

Tipperary will also be hive of activities. A Taste of Cahir takes place over Easter weekend. This is a free family fun event. Activities include a Fairy Trail, Easter Egg Hunt, various water activities, hot air balloons, markets and much more for all the family to enjoy.

What would Easter be without an Easter Egg Hunt and there are loads of these taking place around the country. In Dublin The Cadbury Easter Hunt for Barnardos will take place again this year in Merrion Square on Friday 14^th April and Saturday 15^th April 2017.
