Wow, we have just finished our Easter holidays and we have another Bank Holiday weekend fast approaching ? Phew! There is definitely a nice spring feel to the air with warmer days and a stretch in the evenings. There are a lot of great things happening around the country this weekend. So why not get out there and celebrate Lá Bealtaine.
A lot of music events are taking place this weekend. In Kilkenny you have the Kilkenny Roots Festival featuring a host of Irish and international acts making sweet sounds in venues throughout the city and in Cork the International Choral Festival takes place bringing storytelling and music together into an ultimately unforgettable experience. Also, this weekend the Offaly Fleadh Cheoil takes place. In Louth, the Drogheda Arts Festival has great entertainment for families with free street spectacle on the winding medieval streets of the town, special theatre performances for younger audiences, and a complete family day at Beaulieu House. Féile na Bealtaine takes place in Dingle celebrating the music and arts in West Kerry.
Maybe you want to get out into the countryside and where better to go than Offaly where the Slieve Bloom Walking Festival takes place. If cycling is your thing why not experience the new Waterford Greenway or the Great Western Greenway in Mayo. Both routes are dedicated walking & cycling routes in a safe environment for all the family to enjoy.
Limerick City will be a hive of activity this weekend when Riverfest takes place and will feature waterfront events, Ireland’s largest BBQ event, water activities and spectacular performances by world champion wakeboarders and jet ski riders, along with a very spectacular fireworks display.
If you love the wind in your hair and shucking pot upon pot of mussels freshly harvested in Killary Harbour, you should most certainly make a weekend of it at the 12th edition of the Connemara Mussel Festival in Galway.
