Firstly, in Clare you have Ailwee Caves, home to the longest free-hanging stalactite in Europe. Nearby is Doolin Cave where you will find ?The Great Stalactite,? which at 7 meters (23 ft) is one of the largest free hanging stalactites in the world. Kerry has great things to see and do and many great campsites for you to pitch up for a night or two. Not to be outdone in the cave category Crag Cave is thought to be over one million years old. It is one of the longest caves in Ireland and has two levels. On the foot of the Galtee Mountains in Tipperary you will find Mitchelstown Caves. The caves are considered some of the most spectacular caves in Ireland and are amongst the finest limestone caves in Europe. Not to be outdone Roscommon has its own jewel in the crown ? Arigna Mining Experience, where mining was still going on in Arigna until 1990. Tours are led by ex-miners, so you will get firsthand the experience and reality of working in a mine.
